About Teens Climb High

tch group shotTeens Climb High (TCH) is an empowerment program for middle school girls from low-income communities in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. TCH provides participants with comprehensive support to make positive life choices and avoid teen pregnancy. Participants join the program at the beginning of 6th grade and remain in TCH until they graduate from middle school. The program includes a number of components including after-school group meetings, mentoring, enrichment activities and family support.

After School

All girls participate in weekly group sessions that focus on health and sexuality education, communication, healthy relationships and decision-making skills, conflict resolution, and goal-setting. Preventing STDS
This year the 6th grade girls created a website to educate teens on STDS. They selected and researched three diseases for the site. The three STDs listed in the site are not the only ones out there, to learn more about other forms of STDs please visit http://www.cdc.gov/std/default.htm
