Services for Triangle Women

Women's Center Services

The Women's Center was founded in 1979 as a resource center for all women in Orange County. Since then, program and service areas have grown, but the purpose remains: helping women help themselves.

210 Henderson StreetThe mission of The Women's Center is to support Triangle area women in achieving their personal and professional goals through information, education, referral, and support services.

The Women's Center serves over 5,000 women each year. Utilizing a small staff and network of dedicated volunteers, The Center strives to provide an atmosphere of trust and acceptance where women can learn from each other.

The Center's assistance is sought by women from Orange, Chatham, Alamance, Durham, Person counties and beyond. The Center provides a variety of in-house services, including legal information, financial counseling, career counseling, information & referral, teen support and shared housing information.

We are often the first line of contact for women in crisis. We respond annually to over 3,500 personal calls for information and referral and to hundreds from other area agencies. We produce aThe Women's Center Silkscreen poster which lists services and resources for area women and maintain up-to-date notebooks on job listings, attorneys, therapists, and lesbian resources.

The Women's Center's programs are funded in part by the Triangle United Way, the Towns of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Hillsborough, and Orange County. The Center depends on individual contributions, membership dues, program fees and fundraising events such as Tea with Lee and our annual art luncheon, Through Women's Eyes, By Women's Hands to cover operating expenses. Many of The Women's Center programs and services are free and those with fees are available on a sliding scale basis.

Located in a house in the historic district of downtown Chapel Hill, The Women's Center is a place open to all women.  Please come by to visit and explore our current programs or contact The Center at 919-968-4610 or everywoman@womenspace.org
