Our Services & Programs
The Women's Center offers the following services and programs:
- Legal Services
Community members receive free 15-minute phone appointments with an attorney and/or free 30-minute in-person appointments with a UNC law student. Also, a family law book is available in English and Spanish.
- Financial Coaching and Support
Financial counseling helps individuals and families budget their money and meet their financial goals.
- Career Program: New Choices...Strategies for Success Individual career advising helps with resume and interviewing skills, job searches, and career exploration.
- Adolescent Programs
The Women's Center offers two adolescent programs:
- Teens Climb High is an empowerment and pregnancy prevention program for middle school girls from low-income families in Chapel Hill and Carrboro
- M.A.G.I.C. (Media Analysis of Gender and Image Construction) is a media literacy program that helps middle- and high-school youth gain critical thinking skills regarding damaging media messages.
- Workshops & Groups
A variety of workshops, reading groups and support groups are offered throughout the year.
- Resources & Referrals
Referrals are provided to clients who walk in or call. In the Resource Room, in-depth information is available about community services including attorneys, counselors, mental health organizations, and many beneficial agencies in the Triangle.
