Group Guidelines:
Potential
group members will meet or speak on the phone with facilitators prior
to the group for a screening interview to determine if the
group is an appropriate match and to answer questions. Attendance
at the first session of support groups is required and is essential
to the process of trust-building

Reading
Groups
Lesbian
& Bisexual Women's Reading and Discussion Group
Fourth Thursdays of every month, 6:00-7:30 pm

The Lesbian Reading Group meets the fourth Thursday of each month and
focuses on a wide range of topics including, but not limited to, women's
physical and mental health, partnering, parenting, dealing with homophobia,
self-esteem, and becoming advocates within our communities. During each
meeting, we will focus on a theme and discuss related articles, books,
or current events (Click here
to view past themes and readings). Each month, there will be short
readings that everyone is encouraged to read, and then additional readings
of interest for those who wish to delve further into the issue. We encourage
members of the community to join us for discussion even if they don't
have time to read all of the articles or books. Themes are chosen by
members of the group. Facilitated by Kristy Lowther. For information,

Feminist Reading and Discussion Group

of First-time Homebuyer workshops are being offered in 2008.
The
Homebuyer Education Program is designed to support and educate homebuyers
about the process and responsibilities involved in purchasing, owning
and maintaining a home. Participants in the program will learn about
the various aspects of homebuying, including: the application process,
working with a lender,working with a realtor, mortgage terms, the inspection
process, foreclosure prevention and the closing process. For a list

Attending
classes and acquiring certification for 8 hours of homebuyer education
is a requirement of affordable homeownership programs, as well as many
loan packages for first-time homebuyers.

Information:
Important Information: For events that require pre-registration,
please register at least one week prior to the workshop's or group's
start date to ensure that there is still space available.
Programs are open to women and men unless otherwise noted.
Pre-payment is required for all fee-for-service workshops. Full and
partial scholarships are available. Please call 919-968-4610 for a
scholarship application.

Refunds
are given only for cancelled programs. Programs are held at 210
Henderson Street unless otherwise noted. We do have a small parking
lot, but when the lot is full, parking is available in the Rosemary
Street parking deck and along Henderson and North Streets after
5:00 p.m.
