Financial Counseling
The Women's Center offers three financial counseling services:
- Individual Financial Counseling
- Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
- Financial Coaching and Support Program
- Benefit Bank
- Financial Workshops
Individual Financial Counseling
Financial counselors can meet with you one-on-one to help you with:
- Assessing your financial situation
- Budgeting and savings
- Managing your debts
- Developing a plan to meet your financial goals
- Learning about credit, including how to use it wisely, fix errors in your credit history and what to avoid.
Appointments are open to both women and men. The Women's Center offers a sliding scale, based on individual income.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
Starting on Monday, February 6, The Women’s Center will offer FREE income tax assistance through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. The VITA program is available to help low-to-moderate income individuals and families avoid preparation fees and maximize their tax credits. IRS trained and certified volunteers can prepare your return or help you prepare your own. Appointments are available each Monday 10am-6pm through April 16. Financial Coaching and Support
The Women’s Center is offering a FREE program for 10 single women interested in working toward individual financial stability.
The Financial Coaching and Support (FCS) Program will consist of 8 consecutive weeks of group classes, PLUS 4 individual coaching sessions over the course of one year. Online and email support will also be a component.
Workshops will be held each Wednesday evening September 21 through November 9, 6-7:30pm at The Women’s Center. For details or to register please email the Program Director.
Benefit Bank
The Benefit Bank is new FREE program available to families with low to moderate incomes. The Women’s Center is offering individual application assistance for families who need help. Over $1 billion in federal work supports go unclaimed each year in North Carolina. Let’s work towards ending poverty and boost local economies as families spend these work supports in the communities!
