Special Events The Women's Center hosts two Special Events every year, and participates in several other unique fundraising opportunites throughout the year: Through Women's Eyes, By Women's Hands Tea with Lee Women's Agenda Assembly   Through Women's Eyes, By Women's Hands Planning is underway for the 2011 Through Women’s Eyes, By Women’s Hands…Anonymous Masterpieces art exhibition and sale. The event will be held on March 4, 2011 at The Women’s Center and will feature “anonymous masterpieces” – 5x7 art created by female artists in North Carolina. All art will be displayed anonymously and each piece will be for sale for $50 each. The identity of the artist will remain anonymous until the artwork is sold. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the programs and services of The Women’s Center. Call For Entries! Through Women’s Eyes, By Women’s Hands…Anonymous Masterpieces The Women’s Center is calling all female artists (ages 16+) in North Carolina to create and donate an anonymous mini work of art which will be for sale to art lovers at our annual event on March 4, 2011. The 7th annual Tea With Lee will feature short story readings from our three feature authors; annual host Lee Smith and guest authors Jill McCorkle and Samia Serageldin. Plan to join Lee, Jill and Samia at Foster's Market in Chapel Hill Thursday, December 9, 4:30pm-6:30pm. Tickets will be available beginning November 1st and the event is sure to sell out!  Become a volunteer to help with The Women's Center's special events. Women's Agenda Assembly We are looking for volunteers for the 2010 Orange County Women's Agenda Assembly! This is a great way to get involved in the legislative process and contribute your skills to the advancement of women's issues in Orange County. The event is a symposium of community women that gives us an opportunity to create our own agenda for policies that affect women. The Women's Agenda Assembly is a biennial forum for women's issues in our county. Our objective is to discuss four main issues: access to health care, civic participation and equality, economic self-sufficiency, and violence against women. A statewide nonprofit, NC Women United, drafts a general women's agenda with detailed policy proposals for each installment of the forums, and coordinators and committee members plan assemblies at the local level. Whether you are able to volunteer on the day of the event, participate in the planning process, or be a participant, there is a wide range of opportunities available.
