OUTSTANDING JUDGES CHOSEN FOR THE WOMEN'S CENTER'S
20th ANNUAL ART SHOW THROUGH WOMEN'S EYES, BY WOMEN'S HANDS

CHAPEL HILL - The Women's Center announces Jane Tyndall and Paul Hrusovsky as jurors for its 20th annual art show Through Women's Eyes, By Women's Hands.

Tyndall has been an active member of the Triangle arts community for 30 years. She is the owner and director of Tyndall Galleries, which represents contemporary artists from North Carolina and the southeast. Tyndall has served on the board of directors for the Arts Center of Orange County, she has worked for Durham Arts Council committees, and she contributes to the DooR to DooR arts program at UNC Hospitals. She has juried the art show twice before and has served as a juror for numerous other shows.

"I am honored that you have chosen me as a juror," Tyndall said, "I look forward to working with Paul Hrusovsky, whom I admire very much personally and as an artist."

Hrusovsky is a local fixture in the arts circle. He taught art at all grade levels for 32 years and was named Teacher of the Year in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School District. His works are displayed in numerous corporate and private collections, many of which are local. Hrusovsky has also shown his works in galleries all over the state, including the Somerhill Gallery and Tyndall Galleries in Chapel Hill and the Craven Allen Gallery in Durham.

"We are very excited to have Jane Tyndall and Paul Hrusovsky serve as jurors," said Elizabeth Preddy, chair of the art show committee, "Tyndall Gallery is widely recognized as one of the finest galleries in North Carolina, and Paul is not only a highly respected artist, but also a highly regarded educator in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro School District."

Tyndall and Hrusovsky will choose approximately 170 pieces from over 600 submissions The Women's Center expects to receive. From those pieces they will choose this year's prizewinners.

The purpose of Through Women's Eyes, By Women's Hands is to support women and the arts by providing female artists the opportunity to display and sell their work. This is critical since female artists are underrepresented in galleries, museums and shows when compared to their male counterparts. One-third of the proceeds from the art sales and the proceeds from the events surrounding the art show will benefit The Women's Center.

Through Women's Eyes, By Women's Hands will take place Feb. 20 - 29 at the Sheraton Chapel Hill Hotel. Opening Night, which includes the silent auction, will take place on Friday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m. On Friday, Feb. 27 the Luncheon will feature award-winning author Lee Smith, the show's honorary chair. The Women's Center is a non-profit resource center offering information, education, referral and support services to Triangle area women and their families.
