Through Women's Eyes, By Women's Hands is a celebration of the vision and voice of women artists. The caliber of the art has gained the attention of Sotheby's, which sends its southeastern regional representative to the show to scout for new talent and to present an award for outstanding work. Last year's show received more than 500 submissions and hosted more than 1,000 attendees. Past exhibiting artists have included well-known artists such as Kathy Kiffney, Sally Bowen Prange, and Beth Goldston.

Although the exhibition is designed to celebrate women artists, the content or theme of the art does not have to be based on women's issues. All artists should submit their best work regardless of subject matter.

Two noted art critics will serve as jurors for the show:
Moreton Neal, an Interior Designer and Arts Editor of WDNC's "Better Living Show"; and Wendy H. Outland, who manages the Blue Spiral 1 Gallery in Asheville, NC.

"The number of applicants and the quality of the art work exhibited are on par with any art show in the region," says Juror Moreton Neal.

Awards for art are:

Sponsors' Award for Outstanding Work - $500 Cash Award

Cover Award - The winning piece is featured on the Show's catalog cover, plus $250 Cash Award

The Women's Center Award for Excellence - Art Committee's Choice -- $250 Cash Award

The Honorary Chair Award

Nine Jurors' Choice Awards
